Bishnupur, May 16 2024:
Nambol Sabal Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup has strongly condemned the assault on Aheibam Nelson (35), son of Aheibam Lokhendro and Romila of Nambol Sabal Leikai Ward No.10 by unidentified armed people on May 10 night and demanded to know the reason behind the brutal assault.
Addressing a press meet at Nambol Sabal Leikai in Bishnupur district on Thursday, Lup president Lairenjam Sorojini said that the unidentified armed persons came to the victim's house on May 9 and had some argument with the family.
They returned the next day and whisked away Nelson to a secluded location where he was severely assaulted, due to which he is now fighting for his life at Shija Hospital with both kidneys fatally injured.
Even if there were issues, injuring him to such extent is unacceptable, she said and demanded the people or the group behind the assault to clarify the reason.
Sorojini further said that the armed assailants asked the family members to take custody of Nelson only to find family members of Nelson's former girlfriend there.
Expressing suspicion of involvement of the girl's family, the president contended that the said girl and her family shall be held responsible for any unwanted outcome to Nelson and further incident in Nambol Sabal Leikai.
She also informed that the Meira Paibi Lup and local club have banned entry of non-residents into the village without approval of the organisations after 7 pm .
