Govt urged to take action against Mizoram CM

Imphal, November 09 2024: Stating that Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma's controversial speech in USA is not only threatening the national security of India but also challenging the Constitution; MSME former National Board member Robin Blakie has informed that a letter has been forwarded to the central and state home secretaries to take action against the CM.

He warned of initiating legal actions in consultation with legal experts on the matter in the event of the government failing to penalise the Mizoram CM.

In a press meet held at Heirangoithong Makha Maibam Leikai on Saturday, Robin urged for appropriate actions to be initiated against Lalduhoma, reasoning that his statements are akin to pouring fuel to the sensitive situation in northeast India.

"The central government must not belittle this matter and promptly take up a sou moto case.

If the central government delays this matter," he informed, that he would initiate legal actions in the matter.

Robin pointed out that Lalduhoma had placed his faith on the Constitution'and taken the oath as a chief minister.

However, the controversial statements he made in USA is threatening the integrity and national security of our country.

He continued that the prolonged conflict continues to flare up every now and then.

It is the same as the then Congress party which began its rule in the state with a nationalist spirit and then went on to focus on self-interests.

Manipur was merged to India in 1949.When India held its first parliamentary election in 1952, Manipur was given two parliamentary constituencies - inner and outer.

This long term appeasement policy has backfired, which has now created a huge gap between the hill and the valley, and is now causing all of these situations, he remarked.

Robin then said that the Mizoram Peace Accord or Merger Accord was signed in 1986 and Lalduhoma is now a chief minister because of the same.

The then Congress government along with Assam Rifles signed SoO with the Kuki outfits based in Myanmar.

He then questioned the hidden agenda of the same, while maintaining that the appeasement policies of the Congress government, which were short term, is now showing its "results' in the north east region.
