Workshop on promoting industrial capacity held

The forest department conducted a one-day workshop cum meeting on Promoting Industrial Capacity and Ease of Doing Business for Veneer Plywood and Wood-Based Industries at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal by The Classic on Tuesday.
The workshop was attended by principal chief conservator of forest, and head of forest force (PCCF & HoFF) Anurag Bajpai, CCF L Joykumar Singh, CF (Central Circle) RK Amarjit, CF (Western Circle) Gaithaolu Thaimei, and All Manipur Veneer and Plywood Manufacturing Association general secretary Ngachonmi Ramshang as presidium members.
Speaking at the workshop, Anurag Ba jpai noted that Manipur has rich natural resources and cultural heritage.
He said that goods-based industries and the forest department are coordinating with each other and sharing the dais to celebrate and advance the industrial growth of the state's economy.
As 75 per cent of the state's geographical area consists of forest land, timber, bamboo, and other forest products play a major role in income generation far many households, he added.
He further stated that the condition of goods-based industries in the state reflects a mix of potentials and challenges.
He highlighted that over 100 wood-based industries in the state are small-scale and compete with each other, necessitating the introduction of modern machinery and financial resources.
He also emphasised the need for larger, well-equipped sawmills, targeted policies, modern techniques for forest regeneration, and support for new innovations.
He urged everyone to improve the socio-economic conditions of the state by encouraging advanced industries, digital tools, furniture production, and bamboo crafting.
He also highlighted the government's commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, particularly for wood-based industries, through streamlined policies and encouragement of innovation.
Ngachonmi Ramshang and MFS/DFO Thoubal Dr Jeeceelee shared their technical insights and expertise during the workshop.
As part of the workshop, an interactive session was also conducted between the experts and the entrepreneurs.
