Ukhrul, April 07 2025:
Recognising the potential hazards posed by stray dogs, the Phungyar Town Development Committee (PTDC) has implemented new regulations regarding dog keeping and rearing across the subdivision.
A notice issued by the Sanitation and Beautification Department of the PTDC stated that dogs must not be allowed to roam freely in public places and owners found in violation of this regulation will face a fine of Rs 1000 .
Pet owners are encouraged to ensure their dogs are kept on a leash when taken outside to maintain control.
Accordingly, the notice urged all dog owners in the subdivision to confine their animals with immediate effect, adding that failure to comply will result in stringent enforcement of the regulations starting from May 1 .
The department informed that these measures have been introduced due to the increasing threat stray dogs pose to public safety and appealed to the community for their full cooperation in the initiative.
