WMC organises slogan campaign

As part of its campaign since April 2 in pursuance of the demand for granting recognition to the Meetei community as a scheduled tribe, World Meetei Council (WMC) on Monday organised a slogan campaign and awareness programme themed 'Meeyam Gi Khol lao' at Pantoibi Shanglen, Lamjao, Kakching.
A release issue by WMC Central Executive Committee general secretary Yambem Arun Meetei informed that the campaign was organised in association with Khungang Semgat Sagatpa Lup (KSSL), Lamjao and Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (LAMPL), to draw the attention of Manipur government to send the required two reports for processing ST for the Meetei, to the union government.
It urged for the provision of ST status for the Meetei before the implementation of the 'Delimitation of India' in 2026 .
It also mentioned that the campaign has been carried forward successfully under the leadership of WMC Manipur State Unit president Urikkhimbam Kunjo along with presidents of Youth and Women fronts of the council.
The campaign was also participated by the public, it informed and appealed to the people of Meetei community to join the movement for the legitimate right for survival.
The release also stated that the slogans of the campaign included 'CM cannot blackmail the Meetei', 'Mere NRC and Border Fencing cannot save Meetei', 'Only ST provision can save the Meetei' etc.
