Meritorious students of Sagolband AC feted

Imphal, May 14 2025:
Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) and BJP Sagolband Mandal, under the supervision of local MLA Rk Imo, organised a programme at the MLA's residence on Wednesday to felicitate Higher Secondary Examination-2025 position holders from Sagolband assembly constituency.
A release issued by the MLA's PRO Ng Shashikanta informed that as a token of recognition and encouragement, cash incentive of Rs 10,000 each was presented to the meritorious students.
The meritorious award programme has been an annual initiative in the constituency to motivate and uplift academic excellence, said the PRO.
The MLA also declared to assist students preparing for competitive examinations through joining coaching programme for NEET, JEE, and IIT.
Under the new initiative, the total coaching fees will be jointly sponsored by SCPC and Nachom Edu Foundation, Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, the partner institute of the programme.
Of the total cost, Rs 20,000 per student will be borne by the SCPC.
A total of 20 students will be selected for the scholarship through an entrance test conducted by Nachom Edu Foundation, ensuring that deserving and meritorious students receive the opportunity to access quality coaching free of cost, the release informed.
Speaking at the event, MLA Imo highlighted the ongoing efforts and investments in enhancing educational infrastructure across Sagolband assembly constituency.
He emphasised that such initiatives are directed to wards nurturing academic talent and producing more brilliant students in the coming years.
Notable projects included the construction of G+1 buildings at Wahengbam Leikai Junior High School, Department of Language and Implementation at Takhellambam Leikai, as well as Sagolband Rishikul Upper Primary School, Mantri Lampak.
The ground floors of these structures are designed as multipurpose community halls, funded under the Local Area Development Fund.
Additionally, the recently inaugurated 100-bedded Girls' Hostel at GP Women's College marked a major step in supporting girl students, ensuring a safe, secure residential environment conducive to academic growth.
Similar hostel projects at Johnstone Higher Secondary School and TG Higher Secondary School were already inaugurated earlier with the same for Kebol High School nearing completion,elaborated the MLA.
He further encouraged the students to pursue their passions, work diligently toward their goals and never give up on their dreams.
The MLA expressed his commitment to continue supporting the youth through meaningful educational interventions and career-oriented opportunities.
