Arms, explosives recovered, UG cadre arrested

Imphal, April 07 2025:
Security forces recovered large cache of weapons, ammunition, and combat gear during search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and vulnerable areas on Sunday, according to a police control room statement.
In an operation in forest area of Heirok Part- III Uyok Ching under Heirok police station, Thoubal district, the forces came under fire from suspected cadres of KCP (People's War Group).
The attack was retaliated and a large militant hideout was uncovered.
From this location, two firearms - one SLR and a 12 bore single barrel gun - were seized along with 21 rounds of 7.62 mm calibre, 14 blank cartridges, three kartoos, and one firing pin.
Riot control equipment including 20 tear smoke shells of various types and three stun shells were also recovered apart from three bulletproof jackets with two plates, camouflage clothing and bags.
Field equipment and personal items were also recovered, as well as a Tata Safari and two Gypsys.
In another operation at Makou hill range near Pourabi under Lamlai PS, Imphal East district, one .32 pistol, an INSAS magazine, 10 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and one tear smoke grenade were recovered.
At Samushang Shantipur near Nambul river under Wangoi PS, Imphal West district, security forces recovered one SLR, two modified .303 rifles, two SBBLs, and one .32 country-made pistol with a magazine, four rounds of .303 rifle and 12 AK rounds, a hand grenade and six tube launchers along with two tear smoke shells and four stun shells.
Four bulletproof jackets, seven iron plates, a plastic plate, and combat uniforms were also recovered.
Meanwhile, police arrested an active KCP (PWG) cadre, identified as Waikhom Loveson Singh (31) of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak.
He is said to be involved in extortion activities.
