Irengbam VVF celebrates first anniversary

Bishnupur, January 31 2025: The first foundation day of Village Volunteer Force (VVF), Irengbam, whose members have been taking a major role in safeguarding the Meetei villagers since outbreak of the violence, was held at Irengbam Public ground, on Friday.

The function was attended by VVF Manipur chief advisor Yumnam Oken Mangangcha, social activist Khumukcham Jibon Singh and former UNLF chairman RK Sanayaima as chief guest, president and special guest respectively.

MU Anthropology Department professor MC Arun, WF Manipur chief advisor Huidrom Rajen Meitei, Imphal Review of Arts and Politics editor Pradip Phanjoubam, Imphal Times editor Ringku Khumukcham, VVF Irengbam advisors Ch Joykumar Singh and Ng Nilamani Singh, irengbam GP pradhan I Gopen Singh and Irengbam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup president Ng Rashni Devi were present as guests of honour of the function.

Speaking at the event, RK Sanayaima cautioned that the unrest situation besieging Manipur at the juncture poses serious threat to the very existence of the Meetei people and territorial integrity of Manipur.

"This is the crucial time to discuss what actions should be taken as our land and way of life is rapidly diminishing.

Without the Meetei community, Manipur would not exist," he remarked.

Sanayaima also pointed out that the Meetei's role is vital for the indigenous people of the state, adding: "It is essential to transform Manipur, a state renowned for its art and sports, into a self-sufficient region in terms of food production" .
