Intensive SVEEP campaign held

In connection with the ensuing assembly Election, a Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign programme was held at Japhou Bazaar, Chandel district on Tuesday.
As Chandel and Teng-noupal assembly constituencies gear up for the polling on March 5 in the second phase, Intensive SVEEP Awareness Campaigns are being organised to increase voter turnout as being done in different parts of the state.
Mention may be made that as part of the Mission 300-SVEEP Plan of the CEO Manipur, 300 Polling Stations with the lowest voter turnout in the 2017 Assembly election from across the state were identified with an aim to improve voter turnout in the ensuing 2022 election.
According to SVEEP nodal officer Dearson Tontang, Japhou Bazaar part-1A polling station is one of the 300 hundred polling stations where voter turnout was very low compared to others in Chandel (ST) constituency in the last election.
He further said that besides other SVEEP programmes held earlier in the district, the main objective of Tuesday's campaign was to ensure maximum voters cast votes.
As part of the programme, casting of vote using EVM & VVPAT was demonstrated along with creating awareness and sensitising on District Election Control Room cell.
The event was conducted under the supervision of SVEEP nodal officer, Dearson Tondang, Japhou Bazaar Board secretary and was attended by many citizens of Japhou bazaar area.
