MLA Noorul files police complaint over life bid

Imphal, April 07 2025: Kshetrigao AC MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan has stated that the incident which occurred near Khergao Junior High School under Porompat police station on April 5, was part an attempt on his life by a group of armed persons.

In a press meet held at his private residence on Monday, Noorul recounted that on the night of April 5, he went for dinner at his sister's place near Khergao Awang Leikai Junior High School.

After dinner, he walked out of the sister's place en route to home with his security escorts.

As he was about to board his vehicle, a group of armed persons, namely Md Iliyas alias Tippu s/o (late) .

Abo Md Najakat s/o Abothem, Md Ajmal s/o (L) Md Kiayamuddin, Md Amu s/o (L) Md Esser and Eki s/o (L) Md Esser and others allegedly caused power outage in the area and started pelting stones and bring shots at him.

The MLA continued that the group launched assault on him during which some of his escort personnel sustained injuries in trying to protect him.

Left with no choice, the escorts bred in the air to rescue him, Noorul recounted, adding that his vehicle also suffered some damages in the unprovoked attack.

Stating that the incident was an attempt on his life, Noorul informed that Porompat PS registered a sou moto case the same night.

He also bled a report at the PS but the police are yet to arrest any of the culprits till date.

The MLA continued that while he was at his sister's place, he had called an official to enquire about a land development & composite pit under NREGA being constructed within the campus of Khergao Junior High School.
