Fairs, discourse mark KVK golden jubilee celebration

Thoubal/Senapati, December 03 2024: As part of nationwide celebration of 50 years of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week, 2024 began at KVK, Thoubal/Khangabok on Tuesday.

The programme organised by ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone-VI, Umiam Meghalaya and KVK, Thoubal under the aegis of Agriculture Department was attended by Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash as chief guest and KVK head senior scientist Dr Zeshmarani Sarangthem as president, while Horticulture & Soil Conservation director K Debadutta Sharma and 3rd IRB, Khangabok commandant Sarangthem Hemanta were guests of honour.

A week-long Kishan Mela, participated by various government departments and farmers of the district, was inaugurated by the dignitaries along with releasing a booklet on protection of crops from diseases and pests, published by KVK, Thoubal.

As part of the event, Best District Rural Youth Award was presented to Mutum Sadananda, Best District Male Farmer to Akoijam Deben Singh of Thongjao, Best District Female Farmer to L Robita Devi of Thoubal Wangmataba and Best District Entrepreneur to Mayengbam Ranjita of Thoubal Khunou.

Soil health cards, winter crop seeds, chicks and piglets were also distributed to the farmers present, followed by an interaction programme between subject experts and farmers.

Similarly, KVK, Senapati celebrated golden jubilee of KVKs with Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week/Technol-ogy Week at its Hengbung campus on Tuesday.

The programme was attended by Kangpokpi DC Mahesh Chaudhari as chief guest, FEEDS secretary Kin-janeng Kipgen as functional president, Senapati DC Mamoni Doley as guest of honour and T Waichong SDO Hemant Kumar as special guest.

The guests also released the newsletter of KVK (Farm Science Centre), Senapati.

Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the mela stalls of government departments, KVK, SHGs and others.

The stalls included that of District Sericulture Office, Senapati; Zhereith Foods, Senapati; Shihra Natural Private Limited, Senapati; Kangkabi SHG, Mayangkhang; Chikkim Foods, Kangpokpi: Singai Puinat Nursery, Mayangkhang and others.

Various agricultural equipment, poultry products and other farm items were displayed at the mela.

In the technical session, Tsiibe founding director Ng Ngaorai elaborated, on 'Knowing Your Why: Understanding Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Mindset' and on 'Blooming Ventures: Innovating Sustainability in Floriculture' hy Dianthe Pvt Ltd, Senapati founding director Chokhone Krichena.
