Polling personnel readied for despatch

With campaigning for the first phase election to the 18th Lok Sabha scheduled on April 19 ending at 4 pm Wednesday, preparation for despatching of polling personnel and security for deployment in different locations under Thoubal district has also been completed.
The polling officials are set to leave for their respective destination from 9 am Thursday with personnel assigned duties in Wangkhem & Khangabok assembly constituencies and special polling stations at relief camps at Rice Research Station, Khangabok (Inner Manipur PC) and Wangjing Kodompokpi (Outer Manipur PC) set to depart from Mini Secretariat Complex, Thoubal and for Thoubal, Heirok, Wangjing Tentha and Lilong ACs from Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School playground.
Meanwhile, dispersal of polling officials and central armed police forces (CAPF) to their respective destinations within the three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi district for the first phase voting in respect of Outer Manipur PC started from Wednesday, and continue on Thursday.
The polling officials and CAPF personnel were sent off from the Brigadier M Thomas Ground at 7.30 am after receiving polling materials, kits and EVM machines.
Ahead of dispersal of the officials, the strong room was opened in the presence of Kangpokpi DEO/DC Mahesh Chaudhari, nodal officers and representatives of various political parties at 6 am at LFC hall, DC Office Complex.
From the strong room, the EVMs were then carefully transported to the Brigadier M Thomas Ground where five counters were set up including three for Saikul, Kangpokpi and Saitu assembly constituencies and two counters for special polling stations.
The DEO inspected the entire dispersal process.
More than 600 polling officials would be deployed on election duty.
The district has a total number of 166 polling stations, including 24 special polling stations for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) .
There are 56 polling booths in Saikul, 42 in Kangpokpi and 68 in Saitu.
On the other hand, Kakching district completed the third randomisation of polling personnel for four ACs and two special polling stations ahead of the Lok Sabha Election, 2024, at the VC room of NIC at DC Office Complex, Thoubal on Wednesday.
The randomisation process was overseen by Outer Manipur PC general observer Ujjwal Kumar, Kakching DEO Rohit Anand, ADC/ADM Moirangthem Kapajit, ARO M Ingocha and Waikhong ARO T Millikan, along with other nodal officers.
The EVM and VVPAT strong rooms of Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnu ACs, as well as the two special polling stations will be opened on Thursday 18 at 7 am at the Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex, Thoubal for preparation and despatching for the poll day.
