Imphal, January 11 2018:
The Manipur Valley Village Reserve Forest Right Protection Association has placed a charter of demands before the State Government for due consideration and necessary action.
According to a press release issued by the association, all valley village reserve forest areas allotted to Meitei villages by the Manipur State Durbar should be reserved for Meiteis.
All the valley villages should be brought under valley districts without leaving any room for manipulation and the boundary commission should be put into action at the earliest, says one of the demand.
All the communities living within valley areas which have been allotted Daag numbers should be allowed to vote within the nearest Assembly segments and the valley areas inhabited by them should not be merged with Assembly segments of their choice, reads the third demand.
Aged/old names of places/villages should not be changed at the whim and wish of any community.
The Government should enact a law to prevent such sudden renaming of places/areas/villages and punish those who propose new names.
The State Government should bring out a white paper about the closed door meeting held recently between the Chief Minister and KSO regarding the site of National Sports University which is within 40-Senjam Khunou village (sheet no 4).Neither the KSO should demand unreasonable compensation nor the State Government should accede to unreasonable demand.
Categorically stating that State Government should not give away any part of Senjam Chirang and Senjam Khunou, the association asserted that it would not remain silent if the Government acts otherwise.
