JAC members seek bail

The convenor and a member of the JAC formed against the death of N Babysana have filed bail applications before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and the Court has fixed tomorrow as the day to hear the bail application.
The JAC convenor is Thingnam Chittaranjan of Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai, while the member is identified as Sagolsem Basantakumar of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai.
The two are presently lodged at Sajiwa jail since August 9 after they were arrested by a team of Imphal Police Station along with 9 other members of JAC on the charge of organizing a meira rally "with the intention to incite the general public in organizing unlawful assembly disturbing the peace and harmony of the area by burning tyres on the road, blocking road with iron pipe and to destabilise the economic process of the shops and market areas" .
It may be mentioned that one JAC member/executive member of Thangmeiband United Club, Elangbam Joykumar who was also arrested on similar charges was released on bail on execution of PR bond of Rs 75 thousand along with one surety of the same amount on August 31 .
