Abducted man dies, six arrested

Imphal, December 03 2024: One Takhellambam Indrakumar (53) s/o Chandrababu of Khonghampat Mayai Leikai, who was abducted by some individuals and subjected to physical torture, succumbed to injuries on December 1, as Sekmai Police arrested six individuals involved in the abduction case on Tuesday.

The six accused have been identified as Laishram Rajesh alias Akhu Singh (44) s/o L Yaima Singh of Khonghampat Awang Leikai, Saikhom Rajesh Singh (25) s/o S Priyokumar of Loitang Leikinthabi, Haridayananda Sharma (22) s/o S Sunanda Sharma of Khonghampat Khunou, Laishram Ngamba Meitei (25) s/o L Sana Meitei of Khonghampat Awang Leikai, Langam Luwangba Meitei (33) s/o L Inakhunba Meitei of Potsangbam Khullen Mayai Leikai and Laishram Dickson Singh (21) s/o L Dinesh Singh of Khamaran Mamang Leikai.

According to police report, Indrakumar and his younger brother, Sunil, had a fight on November 30 around 7 pm, during which Sunil sustained injuries.

Following the incident, Sunil plotted with some persons to take revenge on his brother.

Consequently, Indrakumar was abducted by six individuals on the same evening, subjected to torture and later admitted to Sekmai CHC, where he succumbed around 2:16 am on December 1 .

Sunil is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.

A case has been registered at Sekmai police station in connection with the death, and the six suspects were arrested on Tuesday.

Post-mortem examination was conducted at the RIMS mortuary.

However, the family is yet to claim the body Indrakumar.
