Imphal, May 19 2025:
Department of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS) has announced its participation in the Shirui Lily Festival 2025 with a range of youth-centric programmes under the theme "Empower, Engage, Energise".
The department's involvement aims to celebrate the creativity, strength, and resilience of Manipur's youth while promoting fitness, unity, and inclusion.
According to a press statement issued by the department, its pavilion will serve as an interactive space featuring fitness challenges, creative zones, and youth empowerment initiatives.
Among the key attractions is an inclusive food entrepreneurship stall titled "Youth Flavours of Manipur", led by youth activist and entrepreneur Philem Rohan.
The initiative includes participation from internally displaced persons and differently-abled youth, promoting culinary innovation as a tool for empowerment.
Fitness demonstrations will include open-air yoga and functional training sessions along with special showcases by Guinness World Records holders Yambem Gobin Singh and Laithangbam Bidyasagar Singh.
Yambem Gobin, known for his 275 elbow strikes in one minute, will conduct a 30-second open challenge, while Bidyasagar will demonstrate push-up challenges to promote a healthy lifestyle among festival-goers.
Interactive youth engagement zones will offer live sketch sessions and a messaging campaign titled "Your Creative Space" with blank canvases for festival-goers to express their thoughts on #EmpoweredYouthManipur and #YouthforPeace&Progress.
Additional activities include a tree plantation drive, youth-led clean-up campaigns to keep the hills clean, and volunteer support for trekkers, including guidance and refreshment distribution.
YAS director Dr Mayengbam Veto said that the department's participation in Shirui Lily Festival reflects its commitment to nurturing talent, fostering inclusion, and uniting communities.
He described the Festival as a vibrant platform that brings together youth, culture, and sports in one spirit.
The department invites all festival visitors to take part in this celebration of creativity, resilience, and unity.
