'No link with Kuki Zo Village Volunteers'

Ukhrul, May 14 2025: The Village Volunteers, Eastern Zone (WEZ), a Kuki-Zo body, has officially clarified that it has no affiliation or association with the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (KZWEZ) .

The clarification, issued on Wednesday, follows a press release issued by KZWEZ on May 11 bearing reference number KZW-EZ/PR-24, where it has warned members of the Meitei community against entering or crossing into their areas during the State Level Shirui Lily Festival 2025 due to be held in Ukhrul from May 20 till May 24.WEZ maintained that it wishes to "dispel any confusion or misinformation regarding its relationship with KZVVEZ" .

The organisation reiterated that there is no connection between the two groups.

"The Village Volunteers, Eastern Zone (WEZ) wishes to clarify that it has no affiliation, connection, or association with the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (KZVVEZ)", the statementread.

Reaffirming its commitment, the core committee of WEZ stated that their priority remains the welfare and security ofthe Kuki-Zo community.

"We request the public to rely on credible sources and avoid spreading misinformation," WEZ added.
