Demand for ILPS : Cops disperse students near Assembly ; 15 students injured, effigies burnt

Students of different schools were injured during a clash with police personnel when they tried to storm the State Assembly today over the failure of the State Government to implement a more rigorous law to check influx of non-locals in the State.
Over 1000 students from Enlighten Knowledge School, Sangakpham; Sangai Higher Secondary School, Mantripukhri; Tiny Tots' Unique School, Dewlahland; MBC School, Chingmeirong; DAV Public School, Sangakpham and Central Academy, Mantripukhri attempted to storm the State Assembly while the session was in progress from two different directions and 15 students were injured when police personnel tried to disperse them at Khongnang Ani Karak area.
The students were led by a team of JCILPS Student Wing.
The incident occurred at about 1.30 pm.

After the incident, a press meet was held at Chingmeirong.
O Nandababu, co-convener, JCILPS Student Wing stated that the act of the police personnel posted in the area must be condemned as they mercilessly resorted to excessive force to disperse the students.
JCILPS Student Wing will never back down from the ongoing protest against the failure of the State Government to implement a stronger Bill on Inner Line Permit System.
Rigorous form of agitation will be followed unless the Government fulfil the people's demand.
Manjit Sarangthem, co-convener, JCILPS Student Wing said that all the 60 MLAs should resign from their respective post if they fail to implement a stronger Bill on Inner Line Permit System.
Meanwhile, effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, MLA RK Anand and Speaker Lokeshwor were also burnt by members of JCILPS Student Wing at Thangmeiband road.
