Thoubal, August 16 2019:
Two women sustained injuries as a mob made an abortive attempt to storm a Court at Thoubal today.
Naorem Bishambor of Tentha Khunjao Makha Leikai who is accused of repeatedly raping a minor girl at gun point was produced before the Court and the Court remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
Notably, a mob thrashed Bishambor on the same charge on August 1 .
On learning that Bishambor would be produced before the Court today, a large number of people including members of the JAC constituted against the alleged rape, Ningol Lup Tentha and local clubs tried to storm the Court.
But their attempt was thwarted by police who fired several rounds of tear gas shells in their effort to bring the situation under control.
In the process, two women protesters identified as Maibam Dashu (55) and Ningthoujam Ichal (35) sustained injuries and they were rushed to Thoubal District Hospital.
The uproar subsided only after Bishambor was taken away from the Court.
