Imphal, August 16 2019:
BJP Manipur Pradesh today observed the first death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at their Canchipur office.
Speaking at the gathering, Chief Minister N Biren announced that works on transforming one school each of the 60 Assembly segments into model schools would be kick-started tomorrow under the School Fagathanshi mission.
Noting that only Rs 40 crore was available in the State budget to launch the mission, Education Minister Th Radheshyam proposed that he would go to the Union HRD Minister and seek additional fund.
"Taking a letter written by me, Radheshyam went to Delhi and talked about the mission with the Union HRD Minister and the latter sanctioned additional fund of Rs 19 crore", Biren said.
Saying that the State Government conceptualised the idea of School Fagathanshi Mission with the primary objective of imparting proper education to younger generations, the Chief Minister claimed that one major factor for the lesser number of students in Government schools is the absence of pre-nursery and nursery classes in these schools.
Most parents are opposed to the idea of shifting their children to Government schools after completing pre-nursery and nursery stages in private schools.
60 Government schools selected for School Fagathanshi mission would be provided extra infrastructure and all efforts would be invested so that they can compete with private schools, the Chief Minister stated.
The Government has set a target of providing good education at these Government schools free of cost and groom students to their full potential, Biren said.
He claimed that the Government has a plan to transform all the remaining Government schools into model schools in phase manner and upgrade their standards.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement to make potable water accessible to all households, the State Government, highlighting its limited resources, submitted a project proposal of Rs 2600 crore.
Responding to the proposal, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 3500 crore, much higher than the amount proposed by the State Government, he continued.
He hailed late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as an outstanding public leader.
Vajpayee was a visionary leader who predicted 20 years back that BJP would rule the country with over 300 MPs.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the footsteps of the late leader, there are BJP Governments in most States of the country, Biren said.
Claiming that most Central BJP leaders work meticulously, he said that North East can achieve rapid development if political leaders of the region work in concurrence with the ideology of BJP Central leaders.
Ayushman Bharat scheme which guarantees medical assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh does not exclude Congress workers/supporters.
Likewise, PMGSY which was formulated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee was never meant for BJP workers only, Biren added.
