Noney, April 17 2024:
Drivers are hesitant to take the NH-37, particularly in Tousem sub-division sector of the highway in Tamenglong district, following the firing incident on Tuesday at Tollen village near Kaimai.
All of the stranded 171 laden trucks that arrived from Jiribam on Tuesday ferrying essential commodities such as petroleum products left Noney for Imphal on Wednesday afternoon under strict security escorts and ROP.
On the other hand, 73 empty trucks stranded near the Noney police outpost returned to Imphal.
Speaking to this correspondent, a driver expressed discontentment with the security measures, stating that drivers would not operate on the said route until the government ensures their security and safety.
The loaded trucks that left Noney for Imphal included 39 IOCL, 56 LPG and 76 other trucks, while 45 IOCL, 14 LPG and 14 others returned empty from Noney.
Meanwhile, one IOCL and 49 other Jiribam-bound trucks are still stranded in Noney.
