Imphal, June 13 2009:
Miscreants suspected to be militants set on fire a bull dozer engaging in the construction work of a police outpost at Andro in Imphal East district at around midnight of Friday, a report said Saturday.
Reports said that one of the two bull dozers parked at the construction site of the outpost was set on fire by suspected militants who intruded there late last night.
Some parts of the dozer have been damaged by the fire, the report added.
Meanwhile, two militants suspected to be KCP cadres were gunned down by the troops of 31 Assam Rifles at Khudengthabi under Tengnoupal police station of Chandel district last night at around 10 pm, according to an official source.
One rocket launcher with four shells and an AK series rifle with a magazine loaded with four live rounds were claimed to have been recovered from the slain militants by the Assam Rifles authority while handing over the dead bodies to the police this morning.
The source also claimed of killing the militants during an encounter at Khudengthabi village located very close to the Assam Rifles post on the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 .
Police have transported the dead bodies in Imphal for official identification this afternoon.
