Armstrong for lifting Tousem from backwardness
Source: Hueiyen News Service / Daniel Kamei

Tamenglong, May 21 2012: "I have a vision to change the most backwardness Tousem Sub- Division of Tamenglong district Manipur.

To change this remote sub- division I have immediate vision and long term vision.

I will be focusing on community development rather than individuals" .

This was stated by Armstrong Pame, IAS, who has just joint as Sub- Divisional Officer in Tousem sub- Division, his birth place, while briefing media persons at his camp office at Tamenglong district HQs today.

He said the immediate vision was to construct a road from Tamenglong HQs connecting his sub- Divisional HQs.

"When monsoon comes, people from 30 to 40 villages remain totally cut off.

People carry rice on their back from Tamenglong HQs, sick patients died on their way for treatment, I want my people stop these", Armstrong Pame said, adding that all these problems have remained for too long.

Spelling out his long-term vision, Armstrong said it includes road connectivity even to small villages from Sub- Divisional HQs and district headquarters.

"I want to see functional sub- Divisional Office at its Sub- Divisional HQs, and electrification of all villages.

If electrification is taking time, he would go for solar facilities", he added.

"Big projects like opening of bank branch, setting up of police out post and many other big projects have been approved and they are in queue", he said, and urged all social organizers, political leaders who are working for the welfare of the people, UGs and individuals to give full cooperation and a chance to fully implement all development works in the sub- divisional.

He further said that all development funds have not reached to the concerned persons.

Checking of proper project will also help in uplifting the subdivision from backwardness.

He said he would focus on community development, individuals may find unsatisfactory in their expectations, but he would try his level best in trying to bring all round development.

"I have come not for money, neither to please nor work for one particular tribe.

I will respect all tribes and do my best for all tribes" Pame assured.

Regarding the functioning of sub- divisional office at Sub- divisional headquarter, he said there are lots of limitations as Tousem Sub- Divisional office is totally handicapped and no staff have been posted here.

"It is good for the people to work here at Tamenglong HQs as there were no bank facilities, at the same time I thank God for sending me here where people speaking same language can express what is in their heart" Armstrong said.

He also urged all teachers and concerned authority to work for the welfare of the people and implements all funds meant for education and improve the education system in the district particularly in Tousem Sub- Division.

Armstrong said that he would like all health centres and sub-centres to be functional at the sub- division.
