State to host 2nd NEIFF from Feb 12

Imphal, January 31 2025:
The 2nd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) will be held in the state's capital and in Kakching district from February 12 to 16 with 10 to compete for different awards.
The festival is being organised by THOUNA, Manipur in association with Film Forum Manipur and Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), under the sponsorship of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and National Film Development Corporation.
Informing this during a press conference held at DIPR auditorium here on Friday, organising committee director L Surjakanta Sharma said Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla will inaugurate the festival at City Convention Centre, Imphal East at 1 pm on February 12, followed by screening of the him 'Mareibak Ningba Heerachandra' .
Altogether 28 feature and 10 non-feature films were received for the festival, of which eight feature and two non-feature films have been selected.
Apart from the selected films, some other entries, which have missed the selection with a few points will also be screened.
The films will be screened at Tanthapolis Cinema, Lamphel from February 12 to 14, and auditoriums of Library and Information Centre (LIC), Kakching, and Kakching Dramatic Union on February 15 and 16 .
The closing ceremony and awards distribution functions will be held at the auditorium of LIC.
Joining the media briefing, Organising Committee chairman Y Nilachandra said that there will be master classes on February 13 and 14 in Imphal, and open forum on marketing and distribution on February 16 at Kakching.
Film Forum Manipur information secretary and joint convenor of the organising committee Santiraj, and IPR joint director T Ramesh were also present at the press conference.
