Rich tributes paid to mothers on Mother's Day

International Mother's Day was observed across the state by various organisations and institutions as a tribute to mothers for their resilience and uncompromising love for their children.
Among others, observance programmes were organised by Andro Khunjao Baptist Church (AKBC), Local Development Association (TLAD), Leimarol Leishemba Nisa Bandh (Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai Haorokchambi), Indian Army, Women's Income Generation Centre (WIGC), Advocate Leishangthem Rashmani Memorial Trust (ALRMT) and Agasti Cultural Academy (Thoubal), Mangal Village Level Federation (Thoujal VLF), Lingjel VLF, Lamjingbi VLF, Mayeng Lamjao Gram Panchayat, and Alliance for Development Alternate Manipur (ADAM), Kakching on Sunday.
Speaking at the observance programme held AKBC's Andro Chambra Leikai premises, Inner Manipur MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam drew similarity between love for the mother and motherland, pointing out that both manifest sacrifice, resilience, protection and nurturing.
Hailing all mothers, he attributed the opportunity provided to serve the public to his mother's sacrifice and support.
TLAD and LLNB celebrated Mother's Day at Haorokchambi community hall with an elderly IDP from Tera Khongsabi relief camp namely Laishram Mema Leima, retired District & Sessions Judge Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi and United Manipur Women Development Organisation president Anwari Nurjahan as the functional president, chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The programme was marked by paying of floral tributes to the photos of departed mothers and holding of a lucky draw, won by three women.
Meanwhile, Indian Army organised Mother's Day at Loukoipat relief camp in Bishnupur district by presenting gifts to mothers at the camp and cutting and sharing of mother's day cake.
Similarly, the celebration jointly organised by WIGC Children Home for Girls, ALRMT and ACA, Thoubal was marked by children of the home presenting gifts to mothers and participating in a painting competition.
The event was attended by WIGC founder secretary Oinam Indira Devi, ACA president Lourembam Pramodini Devi, ALRMT director Sapam Surnalata Devi, social worker O Meipak, Wangmataba Meirapaibi treasurer Tababi, and secretary 1 Inaobi.
On the other hand, Mangal, Thoujal, Lingjel and Lamjingbi VLFs, along with Mayeng Lamjao GP, organisations under the GP and ADAM, Kakching celebrated the day by planting saplings in the name of Mother Nature at Angaan Ching Eco Park.
The event sponsored by 28 Sector Assam Rifles, 46 Bn AR and Thoubal divisional forest officer (DFO) was attended by Thoubal DFO Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, Mayeng Lamjao GP Administrative Committee chairperson Urikhinbam Narjit Luwang, World Meetei Council Manipur president Urikhinbam Kunjo, AR officials, Kakching forest range officer Huidrom Sundar, Waikhong BO Naorem Brojen, Pallel BO Loushingam Rojit, Wangoo Lamkhai BO Longjam Ramananda, forest staffers, Management Committee Angaan Ching Eco Park coordinator Kshetrimayum Surjit, VLF members, Kakching Apunba Nupi Lup and Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup members.
