3 observation homes inaugurated

Imphal, January 28 2015:
Reminding that collective responsibility is essential for ensuring a secured future for the children, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai has called for public co-operation in the efforts being made by the Government for the welfare of the children.
The Minister was speaking while inaugurating an observation home for boys at Samaram in Thoubal district on Wednesday.
Simultaneously, the Minister also inaugurated two other observation homes which have been constructed under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) at Imphal West and Bishnupur District.
The ABCEDO Observation Home for Boys which was inaugurated at Samaram in Thoubal district would be run by All Backward Classes and Economic Development Organisation, Thoubal.
The Observation Home for Girls at Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai in Imphal West would be looked after by an NGO named Ereima while the Loktak Ima Observation Home for Boys at Maibam Chingching in Bishnuopur district would be administered by Women Income Development Association.
All these observation homes have been set up with funding from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and in accordance to provisions under Juvenile Justice Act.
Attending as chief guest of the inaugural function of the observation home for boys at Samaram, Minister Mirabai said that each of the observation homes which are inaugurated today could accommodate 25 people.
Till 2013, 14 children homes, two shelter homes and one observation home were set up in the State, she added.
The Minister said that collective responsibility is essential for ensuring a secured future for the children who are the future pillars of the nation.
So public should extend their full co-operation in the efforts being made by the Government for the welfare of the children in the State.
Presided over by MLA O Landhoni, the function was also attended by MLA S Bira, Thoubal DC T Ranjit and SP K Radhashyam as guests of honour.
