Zero pass percentage: DESAM set to launch massive campaign

In a positive move, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has announced on Wednesday to launch a massive campaign in all schools which had recorded zero pass percentage in the Class 10 and 12 exams 2015 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) .
"DESAM will find out the truth and take appropriate steps to improve performance of these students.
We're all prepared to launch a massive campaign," alliance general secretary P Premchandra announced at a press meet.
He said DESAM welcomes the Education Minister's promise to punish all teachers of these schools and to give them voluntary retirement.
But Premchandra suggested the Government that all teachers who have always skipped duty should be punished first.
"There are a lot of teachers who are not known by local people living in the areas where their respective schools are located," he said.
Premchandra said 66 out of 332 Government schools, 34 out of 86 Government-Aided Schools and seven out of 579 private schools registered zero pass percentage in the Board exam 2015 .
In the Council exam 2015, 420 out of 943 students from Bishnupur district got through, 311 out of 850 students from Imphal East, 1197 out of 2780 students from Imphal West and 949 students from Thoubal district passed it, he said.
