Imphal, May 20 2015 :
Joint Action Committee (JAC) against Forced Eviction of Naga River Lane (Kabo Leikai) has pledged to observe its 'Law Breaking Day' until a final settlement is brought over the issue.
On Wednesday, the JAC marked the 2nd Law Breaking Day at the office complex of Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP) in Langol Tarung under Thangmeiband constituency in Imphal West.
On the occasion, the JAC convenor, Panti Gonmei pledged that the observation will continue until the eviction issue is resolved by the State Government.
She contended that the forced eviction was totally against a court order and that 15 days' time must have been given to the evicted residents after serving the notice.
Panti said life of those residents, who had been evicted from Kabo Leikai, has been thrown into a state of worry, anxiety, and fear.
The JAC leader also mentioned the current stalemate over the proposed Imphal city ring road construction.
Rev Phungmi of UBC Grace Colony, Pastor Rajendai of Guigailong Church and Pastor Abdul of MCF, among others were also present at the event.
