Five UG cadres held with arms, ammos

Imphal, May 16 2024:
Thoubal district police and 33 Assam Rifles rounded up four active cadres of the armed Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) from Yairipok Bazar area on Thursday.
The intelligence-based operation led by 0C of Thoubal Commando (CDO) unit succeeded in apprehending the cadres on charge of extortion activities.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sinam Bijen alias Mangang Meetei (38), son of S Joy of Ingourok Awang Leikai, Thoubal; Angom Ingo alias Apa Singh (53), son of late A Kula of Nongpok Sekmai Ward No 3, Thoubal; Warepam Jayenta Singh (36), son of late W Ibomcha of Khamaran Makha Leikai, Imphal West; and Oinam Naocha alias Max Singh (24) son of O Biren of Modangpok Khunjao Awang Leikai, Imphal West.
During the operation, police recovered five mobile handsets, two 9mm pistols with 15 rounds, five demand letters, 25 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, four rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and a white A-Star car.
In a separate operation conducted on the same day around 12:30 pm, a team of Imphal West Commando (CDO) unit, acting on information received from 22 Assam Rifles and corroborated by own sources, arrested an active member of the KCP (Taibanganba) faction from Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai Lane No 2.The arrested individual, identified as Laishram Ronen Singh (48), son of late L Kherachand of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai Lane'No 2, disclosed that he had been working for the KCP group since February 2024 under the command of chairman Haobijam Dilip alias Taibanganba, of Bishnupur.
Ronen admitted to serving monetary demands to shops in Paona and Thangal Keithel area, and collecting a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh, which he handed over to his commander for party's fund.
Items recovered from Laishram Ronen included two mobile phones, one grey side bag, one .32 pistol with two magazines, four rounds, a firearm license issued by the district magistrate, Imphal West (license no.22422A7A5B817), Rs 2,500 in cash, and a Santro car (AS01BF 4205).The arrested cadres and recovered items in both operations have been handed over to Yairipok and Imphal police stations respectively for further action.
