UN invites TPC columnist Salam Rajesh to London event

Senior environmental journalist and The People's Chronicle columnist Salam Rajesh has been formally invited by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) to attend the 2025 World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) in London next month.
The invitation, issued by Maria-Francesca Spatolisano, assistant secretary-general for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, confirms the summit will be held from June 17 to 19 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London.
Rajesh is also a member of the IUCN Climate Crisis Commission.
The invitation recognises his expertise in the field.
Convened under the Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD), the summit will focus on the theme: "Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Eradicating Poverty in Times of Multiple Crises".
It will review five key SDGs namely No Poverty (SDG 1), Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Climate Action (SDG 13), Peace and Justice (SDG 16), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) .
According to the WSDS secretariat, discussions will emphasise innovation, resilience and inclusivity in addressing sustainable development challenges.
The summit will encourage measurable action from the private sector in areas such as living wages, climate change, water stewardship, gender equality and SDG investments.
Participants will include leaders from business, politics, research, civil society and international organisations.
Key topics will cover financial innovation, AI and human rights, sustainable supply chains and corporate climate responsibility, aiming to accelerate progress towards the 2030 SDG goals.
