Imphal, January 12 2015:
Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Imphal West organised a training programme on Integrated Plant Nutrient Management (IPNMS) at the conference hall of Directorate of Agriculture today.
Giving his keynote address, ATMA project director L Inaobi said that the area of Manipur is 22,327 sq km while the population is over 27 lakh.
Saying that the population growth rate of the State is 13 per cent, Inaobi said that Manipur is unable to produce enough foodstuff to feed its people.
He informed the gathering that the State has only 2 lakh hectare of cultivable land.
KVK Imphal West Programme Coordinator SK Ramana and State Co-ordinator Y Shyamkishore also attended the function.
Agronomy HOD of CAU, Dr L Nabachandra, ATMA Thoubal Deputy Project Director L Sanatomba and KVK Imphal West SMS Dr Lydia Zimik spoke as resource persons at the technical session of the programme.
