Imphal, April 08 2025:
The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Manipur has strongly condemned the hike in prices of cooking gas and other petroleum products, which are essential items used in daily life.
At a press briefing held at Irabot Bhavan, Rupmahal Tank, Laishram Sotinkumar, general secretary, AITUC, Manipur accused the BJP Government of attempting to loot the public with the recent price increase.
He cautioned that preparations for democratic protests have been made if the Centre fails to reverse the increase in prices.
On another note, Laishram Sotinkumar called for the setting up of a dedicated highway protection force to be deployed along the national highways, upholding the territorial integrity of Manipur and identifying illegal immigrants in the State before the proposed delimitation exercise can be implemented on the ground.
He informed that a memorandum will be submitted to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Transport Minister on April 12 listing many pertinent points, including granting of economic package and restoration of peace in Manipur.
