69th Republic Day observed at different districts of the State

Imphal/Chandel/ Tml/Tbl/ CCpur/Bpr/Senapati/ Kpi/Ukl/ Jiri/Tpl, January 27 2018: As the Nation celebrated the 69th Republic Day, district headquarters across the State celebrated the day yesterday with much pomp and gaiety.

Here are the highlights of celebration in the district headquarters across the State: .

IMPHAL EAST: The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at the district headquarters at Porompat yesterday.

For the first time, since the inception of the district in 1997, march past was organised from Porompat Police Station to DC office complex, Imphal East.

Altogether 19 contingents comprising of police, schools, colleges, Youth Affairs & Sports Department, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Anganwadi workers, Thang-Ta group, Dance troupes and a Tableau of KVK Imphal East took part in the parade.

Grand salute was received by Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East Th Chitra Devi.

One national teacher awardee and one State teacher awardee were honoured with shawls during the celebration.

Social Athletic Club of Top Mayai Leikai, Imphal East which was chosen by NYK, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India for "Outstanding Youth Club Award, 2017" was felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 .

The DC Commendation certificates were also given to deserving officials as recommended by the respective Head of Office of the offices within the jurisdiction of the district.

The celebration was attended by the elected members of the district, district level officials and a public of about1500 people.

CHANDEL: People of Chandel district observed the day at Maha Union Higher Secondary School campus, Chandel.

Krishna Kumar, DC, Chandel hoisted the National tri-colour and received the guard of honour during the RD parade as the chief guest.

Soram Ingo Singh, Dy Commandant, 8th MR, Leikun, Chandel commanded the RD parade participated by 20 contingents.

Speaking at the occasion, Krishna Kumar said that social and economic justice will prevail in the district when there is active participation of the people.

He assured that the district administration is duty bound to achieve what is enshrined in the Constitution.

Different prizes, red blankets and appreciation certificates were also distributed in the function.

TAMENGLONG: The district administration, Tamenglong celebrated the 69th Republic day at the lower ground, Tamenglong Headquarters.

Armstrong Pame, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong, hoisted the national flag and received salute from parade contingents.

Altogether 20 contingents consisting of 5th MR platoon, Manipur civil police, students of 16 schools and one college took part in the parade.

Md Abul Kalam, DSP, Tamenglong was the parade commander of the contingents.

In his Republic Day speech Armstrong Pame greeted the people of Tamenglong on behalf of the President of India, PM of India, Governor and Chief Minister of the State and the MLAs of Tamenglong and Tamei.

Armstrong appealed people to stand united and abide by the Constitution of India.

He lauded the leadership of CM N Biren for inaugurating and opening the district hospital to the people within six months of coming to power.

He also said that SBI bank will be opened very soon in Tamei and PSU bank will soon come up in the remotest sub-division of Taosem.

Armstrong said that the district is aiming to be the first "free open defecation" district in Manipur.

Public toilets and water supply schemes will soon be provided to the people of the district, said Armstrong.

Reliance and Idea cellular network will operate soon in the nook and corner of the district, he added.

As a part of the RD celebration, merit certificate awards were given to 8 different departments of Tamenglong district administration including Anthony Gangmei, reporter, District Information Office (IPR), Tamenglong.

Armstrong also released a district news bulletin.

23rd Assam Rifles under the theme "Know Your Army" displayed different weapons, arms and ammunition on the day.

Volley ball matches were organised as a part of the celebration.

THOUBAL: Thoubal District Headquarters also celebrated the RD at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Thoubal.

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, L Nabakishwar Singh hoisted the National flag and received salute of 24 contingents which included the State Police, Home Guards, NCC Boys and Girls, students from various schools and cultural troupes.

Amarjit Lamabam, SDPO Yairipok was the parade commander.

For the welfare of women, 'Women help line' and a 'One stop centre' have been opened at the DC Complex, said Nabakishwar in his RD speech.

A Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya has been opened at Ukhongsang for girl students and another such KGBV school will be set up at Lilong.

Computerization of land record in the district is in progress and under the PMAY 1586 houses have been constructed.

For public convenience a grievance cell has been opened at the ADM office, he said.

Lauding the district police, he said that law and order in the district has improved significantly under the supervision of SP K Meghachandra Singh.

The district police received the Chief Minister's Medal for Community Policing.

Meritorious awards were distributed to the officers and staffs of various departments.

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Ukhongsang bagged the first prize for best march past contingent while New Ideal High School, Thoubal and Thoudam Leishangthem Girls High School bagged 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.

CHURACHANDPUR: Churachandpur district joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 69th Republic Day with Deputy Commissioner of the district Shyam Lal Poonia hoisting the National Tri-colour and receiving salute of the parade contingents at at Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka.

The parade contingent comprised of civil police, VDF, cadets of different NCC units and school children.

Highlighting the achievements of the district during the last one year, Poonia said the district secured first position as the cleanest district.

Stating that the achievement is just the beginning, the DC said the district administration has plans to make the district 'Open Defecation Free' by March.

The district is also planning to phase out polythene bags by replacing it with environment friendly alternatives and changed consumer behaviours, he said.

"Climate change is no more an alien concept here," SL Poonia said while pointing out that the DFO and his team have undertaken massive afforestation drive under National Bamboo Mission in the district. Asserting that the district administration is able to contain serious disease outbreaks and that health scenario is gradually improving in the town, the DC appealed to all concerned to extend full cooperation in the days to come to enable the RKS of District Hospital revolutionise the health care system.

A women's market (Nu-te bazar) is coming up in the town soon, he said.

BISHNUPUR : The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at the Bishnupur District Headquarter at the new Stadium ground, Bishnupur.

The celebration was attended by top police and civil officials with Deputy Commissioner Pawan Yadav as the chief guest.

Pawan Yadav hoisted the National flag and received salutes from the 27 contingents during the RD parade.

The contingents comprised of male and female civil police, VDF, home guard and school students.

SENAPATI: The RD celebration at Senapati district was organised at the district's Mini Stadium.

The Deputy Commissioner of the district Athem Muivah hoisted the tri-colour and inspected the 25 contingents comprising of Manipur Police, NCC, schools, colleges and a band party of the All Manipur Band Party Association.

In the RD parade, Mt Everest College NCC (girls), Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (Girls), Maram and Mt Pisgah College (Girls) bagged the first, second and third position respectively.

KANGPOKPI: Kangpokpi district administration celebrated the day at Brig Thomas Ground.

Deputy Commissioner MJ Pradip Chandren unfurled the tri-colour and received salutes from a total of 23 contingents during the RD parade.

M Surat Singh, Assistant Commandant of the 4th IRB, Kangpokpi commanded the parade contingents.

The 23 contingents included district police, VDF, Kangpokpi Fire Service, ASHA workers, Anganwadi Workers, several Government and private schools.

23 staff and officials of different departments in the district were presented certificates of recognition for commendable service in their respective fields.

SP Kangpokpi PS, Commandant of the Assam Riffle Post, Kangpokpi, vice chairman of SHADC, officials and staff of the district administration, invitees and local public attended the RD celebration.

UKHRUL: Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja hoisted the tri-colour at Bakshi ground Dungrei Hungpung to mark the 69th Republic day celebration yesterday.

Chairman of ADC Ukhrul Dickson Kumrah, SP Ukhrul, executive members, councillors, DLOs and CSOs attended the celebration.

17 individuals selected from different departments and fields were honoured by the presenting certificates of appreciation during the RD celebration.

17 contingents took part in the RD parade.

Traditional folk dance and many cultural programmes were staged during the celebration.

JIRIBAM: The district administration Jiribam celebrated Republic Day at Jiribam Government Higher Secondary ground.

Deputy Commissioner of the district Robert Singh Khetrimayum hoisted the tri-colour and received salutes of the contingents during the RD parade.

Robert Ksh, in his RD speech, called for collective efforts of all the stakeholders to maintain peace and bring development in the district.

7th IRB, 87th Bn CRPF, 7th IRB Band Party, Manipur Police, VDF, 7th IRB Cultural Troupe, 37th AR Band Party, Fire Service, Jiri College and schools in the district took part in the RD parade.

Chairperson of the JMC, SP Jiribam, ADC Jiri, officials of district police, 87th Bn CRPF officers, 7th IRB CO Lokho and different departments and public attended the RD celebration.

Borobekra Sub-Division under Jiribam district also celebrated the day at the office of the SDC under the SDC H Rameshchandra Singh and OC Borobekra Police OC N Shyam Singh.

TENGNOUPAL: District administration Tengnoupal also observed the 69th Republic Day at the Tengnoupal Government High School.

DC Kh Raghumani Singh who attended the celebration as chief guest hoisted the tri-colour to mark the day.

Thengnoupal police, 12 AR Tengnoupal Band Party, Tengnoupal High School, TS Peter School, Sita High School, ASHA and Anganwadi workers took part in the parade.

Meanwhile, Moreh Sub Divisional administration also celebrated the day at ADC Moreh complex with ADC Moreh N Bankim as chief guest.

CDO Moreh DSP Th Krishnatombi, CDP OC P Tarunkumar, SDPO, Moreh police Lawrence and other Government officials were also present in the ocassion.
