Tributes paid to Rani Gaidinliu on her 103rd birth anniversary

Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA) observed the 103rd birth anniversary of freedom fighter Haipei Rani Gaidinliu yesterday at Rani Gaidinliu memorial site close to High Court of Manipur.
The observance was attended by Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar as chief guest; Tamenglong AC MLA Samuel Jendai as president; Nungba AC MLA Gaikhangam; KAMA president Kakomlunglu Kamei; founder advisor Lanbon Longmei; vice-president Alu Kamson; former president of ICHAM N Rajendro (Boy); president of Poireileimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup L Memchoubi; AMUCO president Ph Devan; president of Nupi Samaj Th Ramani and former Additional Chief Secretary LP Golmei as guests of honour.

Speaking at the function, Jayantakumar said that the new Government acknowledges contributions from different communities towards protecting the territorial integrity of the State.
He observed that people especially the younger generation should ponder on why Rani Gaidinliu stood against the mighty British rule in the State.
He recalled that several freedom fighters including Rani Gaidinliu had worked tirelessly towards the betterment of the society.
Gaikhangam said that there should be no partiality when it comes to establishing statues of the freedom fighters of the State.
He said that the Government had set up Haipou Jadonang Memorial Park at Keishampat in remembrance of the freedom fighter's supreme sacrifices made for the State.
The dignitaries and other attendees paid floral tributes to a photo of Rani Gaidinliu as a mark of respect.
