Imphal, May 19 2025: In a remarkable celebration of India's rich cultural tapestry, the traditional Manipuri martial arts form, 'Thang-Ta', was showcased during the 72nd Miss World Sports Day at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on May 17 .

The Thang-Ta team, 'Chainarol Temple' was led by Guru Sapam Inaobi Singh.

The performance was organised by the Government of Telangana, aiming to highlight the diverse heritage of the nation on a global platform.

The 72nd Miss World Festival is being hosted by Telangana state from May 10 to 31 with contestants from 109 countries participating.

'Thang-Ta' showcased at Miss World Sports Day

The particular event of showcasing 'Thang-Ta' was organised by Sports Authority of Telangana.

There was huge appreciation from all quarters for the 'Thang-Ta' performance.

Mention may be made that 'Thang-Ta' (the art of sword and the spear) is a traditional martial arts, also known as 'Huyen-Lallong' originating from Manipur.

It combines sword (thang) and spear (ta) fighting with various forms of hand-to-hand combat.
