Imphal, May 16 2024: In a significant development, an accused in the murder case of a youth in Lilong (FIR No 43(05)2024 LIL-PS) was arrested on Thursday.

The accused, Md Achouba (27), son of Md Gaffar from Lilong Kaleikhong, was apprehended by a team of Lilong PS and Thoubal commandos from Kaleikhong area, bringing the total number of arrests made in the case to 11.According to police source, the other 10 individuals who were arrested earlier in the day in connection with the case are Salman Khurshid (29) son of Md Salauddin of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Boroi Makhong; Md Manjur (39) son of Md Samiruddin of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai; Hawaibam Chester alias Chalamba (29) son of late H Yaiskul of Tingri Awang Leikai; Sinam Aimsum (28) son of Sinam Budhachandra of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak; Oinam Leonando Meitei (25) son of late O Thoiba of Singjamei Chingamakha; Md Majibur (19) son of Md Habibur of Mayang Imphal Konchak Awang Buyamayum; Elangbam Gobin (33) son of late E Modhu of Sagolband Khanam Leirak; Yangkhubam Rajia (22) daughter of Md Apik of Sora Mamang Leikai; Md Azam Khan (32) son of Md Haya of Phundrei Maning Leikai; and Silvia (19) daughter of Fakaruddin of Lilong Awang Leikai.

The source further said that efforts are on to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects, particularly Th Roshan Singh of Heirok Part II Moirangthem Leikai, the self-styled convenor of the so-called Periphery Protection Force (PPF), and Md Boboy alias Hassan of Lilong Mayai Leikai, in connection with the case, registered under sections 302, 326, 364, 34 of the IPC and 25(1-C) of the Arms Act.
