Senapati, May 14 2025:
The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has instructed all its constituent and subordinate units to hoist the Naga National Flag on May 16, 2025 to mark the 74th Naga Plebiscite Day.
This directive follows a resolution adopted during ANSAM's Second Presidential Council Meeting and aligns with the decisions taken by the First Legislative Assembly for the 2024-26 term.
In a statement, ANSAM urged leaders of all constituent and subordinate bodies to ensure the directive is strictly enforced within their respective jurisdictions.
Responding to ANSAM's directive, the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has formally acknowledged the call and subsequently directed all educational institutions within the district to observe a holiday on May 16 in honour of Naga Plebiscite Day.
A press release from the SDSA emphasised the deep significance of the Naga Plebiscite Day to the Naga people, describing it as a historic occasion that invites reflection on the community's identity, rights, and collective aspirations.
The students' body stated that the observance of this day not only honours the memories of the past but also reaffirms the Naga people's continued commitment to ongoing dialogue and the pursuit of their shared future.
In light of ANSAM's directive, the SDSA has appealed to all educational institutions within Senapati district to declare May 16 as a public holiday.
The association underscored the importance of the day as a reminder of the Naga people's collective journey and the unity required in pursuing their goals.
Additionally, the SDSA has encouraged students to organise activities and events that promote awareness, understanding, and respect for Naga cultural heritage.
Such initiatives, the association added, would enhance community engagement and foster a spirit of unity as the Nagas commemorate this significant occasion.
