Imphal, June 04 2009: THE INFORMATION Centre for Hill Areas Maanipur (lCHAM) president, N Rajendro has today wonndered where all those patriots, who had claimed to love the people and launched slanderous cammpaign against one commuunity while pretending to care for another during the elecctioncampaign while also asking them to come out and work for the state now.

He was speaking as the functional president at the valedictory function of the one month long Cooperative Members Foundation Course at the Catholic Community Hall, Senapati organised by the Centre for Cooperative Management under the sponsorship of National Cooperative Union.

Rajendro said that due to shortage of power supply in the state, development works have been mired.

Saying that the state enjoyed only 17 percent of the power generated through Loktak Project, he asserted that given the huge submergence of arable land the state deserves to get 50 percent of the power generated through the project.

He said no representative and no government in the state have so far come up to press the Central government for the materialisation of the same.

He observed that other than some individuals who work for their own interest in the Horticulture department, there has been no project taken up to tame and promote the various rich and plenty medicinal herbs of the state.

He also said that the Foundation Course will be helpful for the Poumai women, who are hard working but did not get gain anything from government beneficiary schemes due to lack of cooperative approach.

The valedictory function was also graced by the President of Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU) Kh Borkeshore, the Chief Executive Officer of MSCU Kh Tomba and District Cooperative Officer Kh Tomba as the chief guest and guests of honour respectively.

Kh Borkeshore said that the movement of cooperative has slowly gained pace in the hill districts of Manipur while asserting that speeding up of the cooperative movement would advantage the future of the state.

Saying that there is a project of around 7 crore for cooperative societies in Senapati district, Borkeshore also maintained that the time has come for the people to spend the amount cautiously so as to ensure maximum benefit out of it.

He said to coexist with cooperative spirit is a must for all communities while adding that getting government job now is a distant dream.

He said the role of cooperative society and self help group has gained momentum.
