A National seminar on "The Repercussion of Conflict management: State of pandemonium and academic uncertainty" was held at S Kula Women's College conference hall today.
The seminar was organised by Human Rights Studies Centre, S Kula Women's College (SKWC) in collaboration with Social Welfare and Development Centre, Imphal under the sponsorship of UGC-NERO.
The seminar was graced by Vice Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture, Professor N Khagendra Singh as chief guest, governing body of SKWC president N Ibomcha Singh as president and HOD, Dept of Political Science, Bodoland university, Professor Jyotiraj Pathak, HOD, Dept of Sociology, MU, Professor Ksh Rajendra, Social Scientist Councillor, IGNOU Dr Dhanabir Laishram and Principal of the college Dr N Joykumar Singh as guests of honour.
A compendium of facts and events in the context of present conflict iti Manipur and the North East States was released by VC Khagendra Singh.
The compilation will sensitise the public on the ongoing conflicts and would help in bringing a better place by learning from the negative impacts of the conflicts through the compendium.
He added that such seminar would bring a combined solution and a better option to prevent and avoid conflicts so that it does not create any kind of hindrance to any sector, especially the academic and education sector.
A total of 83 people including students from different colleges and 13 resource persons from the North East States took part in the seminar.
A technical session comprised of three sections were conducted in which topics on 'Ethnic conflict in Manipur and its impact on academic atmosphere : A case study of Kuki-Naga conflict of 1990s', 'alternative arrangement and its impact on ethnic relations and education in Manipur', 'Repercussion of Social chaos and unrest on academic atmosphere in Manipur' were discussed and interacted on, during the seminar, among other topics.
