Understanding worked out with girls' school

All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) president Peter Laishram has conveyed that an understanding has been brought among the students of Ibotonsana Girls Higher Secondary School in presence of guardian and parents at AMSU office headquarters in connection with the incident of a video which went viral on social media involving the said students.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU HQ today, in the presence of officer bearers of Ibotonsana Girls Higher Secondary student union today afternoon, Peter said that a meeting was held at AMSU office today with the students involved in the viral video along with their parents and during the meeting, the involved students tendered apology for their wrongdoing and promised that they will not indulge in such activities in the future.
Acknowledging the apology of the students and their promises, an understanding was reached between the two sides, he added.
The AMSU president continued that if the students are involved in any other similar case in the future then the students will have to take sole responsibility for their action and AMSU will even approach the school authority concerned to expel the students.
Peter also said that another viral video concerning the same incident and involving a mob also surfaced which is rather unfortunate, and appealed to the people to restrain themselves from resorting to mob justice and victimizing the students any further.
Stating that AMSU got reports that some students bunk classes and go to picnic spots, cinema halls, parks, hotels and restaurants during the school hours, he said that AMSU will launch drives to check the presence of students in school uniforms in such areas and further appealed the caretakers concerned of parks, gardens and cinema halls not to allow students in uniform to enter the premises.
On the other hand, Peter said that AMSU suspects foul play regarding the death of a girl student inside the hostel of Standard Robarth School, Canchipur, and alleged that volunteers of the student's organization as "well as media persons who went to the site, were not allowed to go inside the complex by the school authority.
To prevent such unwanted incidents, AMSU will check whether boarding hostels are following the necessary norms, terms and conditions laid down by the authorities concerned.
He then appealed the authority to provide a counselling class to the students at least once a week to prevent any kind of unwanted incident in the schools and conveyed that AMSU is looking forward to conduct awareness campaigns in different parts of the State.
On the other hand, Delina Laishram, general secretary of Ibotonsana Girls Higher Secondary School student union stated that they take the incident involving the students of the school seriously as it has defamed the school in front of the public.
She further said that the school union will try its level best to prevent such incidents in the future.
