SUK inspects hostels, finds improper toilet facilities

Imphal, July 18 2019:
Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has inspected the boys and girls hostels of Emmanuel English Academy, Yaingangpokpi, today.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the inspection drive, SUK president, Dhanachandra Ningthouja said that the the drive was carried due to the failure of the State Government to lay down certain rules and regulation for running hostels despite continuous appealed from the union.
While inspecting Emmanuel English Academy, the volunteers of SUK found out that there were no proper toilet facility and store room in the girls hostel, he said, adding that insect was also found in water container at boys hostel.
It is unfortunate that students who came to study were not provided safe drinking water and proper facilities, Dhanachandra said and urged the State Government to make registration a must for all the hostel owners and lay down a certain rules and regulations for running hostels for the welfare of the students at the earliest.
He also said that the drive which began today will continue in different schools across the State.
As per the law, all the hostels must be certified by Food Safety Department to run their businesses but unfortunately the same was not followed at Emmanuel English Academy, he said and appealed all the hostel owners to apply for license from the concerned department.
