AR celebrates 20th year of Kargil War

Imphal, July 18 2019:
To celebrate the occasion of upcoming Kargil Vij ay Diwas, Kakching Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a weapons display programme and showcased a documentary film on Kargil War at Kakching Garrison, today.
A total of 300 students and teaching staff of Martin Grammer School, Kakching, Grace Cottage Academy, Kakching and Padma Rattan School, Kakching attended the event, said IGAR (S) .
It also said that various programmes like weapons display, motivational lecture & health walk were also organised by Sugnu, Salluk and Waikhong Post for Grace English High School, Sugnu, M Ganga English Academy, Sugnu, KV School, Chakpikarong and Elangkeinya High School, Waikhong.
More than 900 students and teaching staff took part in the event along with six soldiers who took part in Kargil War, one martyr's mother and one martyr's father also participated in the event at Salluk post, it said, adding that the the aim of this programme is to create awareness about the Kargil war martyrs amongst the young generation, to evoke feeling of nationalism and patriotism and also to motivate the youth to join Indian Army.
