Troops on poll duty likely to return: Kuldiep

Security advisor Kuldiep Singh called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday evening and briefed her about the prevailing security situation in the state.
During the meeting, Kuldiep informed the Governor about deployment of central forces along the fringe areas to prevent any untoward incident.
He also conveyed that some forces had to be withdrawn for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections for some time, but are likely to return after the election process is over and redeployment will take place.
A statement issued by Raj Bhavan quoted the security advisor as telling the Governor that Central forces are being engaged in guarding the state armouries and also escorting vehicles along the two national highways, NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) and NH-37 (imphal-Jiribam road) .
The Governor asked the security advisor to take all possible measures to check any untoward incident for the safety and security of the people in general, it added.
