Imphal, August 27 2011:
A review meeting on the progress of the agitation on Sadar Hills district demand will be organized on August 29 where public opinion on the future of the agitation and the demand will also be sought, informed general secretary of SHDDC, Tonghen Kipgen today.
A reception meeting was held today at Keithelmanbi, on National Highway 39, to felicitate delegates of SHDDC who had gone to Delhi to seek appointment with Central government leaders to appraise them of the four-decade long demand for a full fledged Sadar Hills district.
The meet today resolved to conduct a public meeting at Gamgiphai during August when distraught people from Gamgiphai, Motbung, Saitu, Sapermeina and Leikop villages could participate in reviewing the progress of the agitation so far and prescribe the possible road ahead, told Kipgen to Newmai News Network over phone.
The public opinion thus generated from the meeting will set the temper for the future course of action that has been foisted on the demand committee by recent incidents within the state, he added.
Similar meetings would also be organized in Kangpokpi, New Keithelmanbi and Saikul subdivision in the days ahead, the general secretary said with an air of urgency.
Kipgen said that the response from Home Ministry on the Sadar Hills demand was very encouraging and positive.
The three MLAs of Sadar Hills, former MLAs, ADC members and subcommittee members of SHDDC were present at today's meeting in Keithelmanbi.
