Inquiry orders on GP member killing case

Imphal, January 12 2011:
A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the death of Ningthoujam Binodkumar alias Inao (40) son of late N Babu of Khangabok part-I Sorok Wangma who was sitting member of ward no 7 Khangabok part-I GP on December 31 in the alleged exchange of fire between UGs and Imphal West Police Commandos.
Mention may be made that Binodkumar had died of bullet injuries.
Police had claimed that he was used as a local identifier by the police commandos and died during a search operation in his locality when militants fired upon the police commandos.
A policemanalso sustained a bullet injury.
However, when villagers rose up alleging that he was shot dead by police commandos after picked up from his house, three police commando personnel involved in the operation have been suspended later.
A notification issued by the Thoubal District Magistrate on January 10 put down the term and conditions of the inquiry as to find out facts and circumstances leading to the incident, to analyze the same and recommendation to prevent recurrence of such incident in future.
The notification further invites to give oral evidence or produce any material/documents before the district magistrate in connection with the aforementioned enquiry along with necessary details and particulars of the individuals on or before January 20, 2011 .
It is pertinent to mention that residents of Khangabok strongly protested the killing alleging that police commandos killed him after dragging out from his house on the night of that faithful day.
