State logs three deaths, 329 new cases, test capacity dips

Imphal, January 30 2022: Amid the rising cases of Covid 19, the state health authority has not been able to increase the daily test capacity thereby increasing the chances of the contagion spreading fast among the population of the state.

In the last 24 hours, only 2002 samples were tested out of which 329 samples returned positive for Covid-19, thus, registering a positivity rate of 16.43 per cent on Sunday, a slight increase from Saturday's 16.25 per cent.

Sunday also reported three death cases which took the pandemic toll to 2041 .

They were residents of Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.

One of them had received first dose of Covid vaccine while the other two had received second doses.

So far, the Virus has claimed lives of 160 vaccinated people including 39 who had received second doses in the state.

A total of 284 patients were discharged from home isolation (182), RIMS (8), JNIMS (17) and CCCs (77) in the last 24 hours, while the active cases rose to 3976 out of which 1409 (35.44 per cent) are in home isolation.

There are 227 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 156 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.

Out of the 16 districts, only one did not reported any fresh Covid cases on Sunday.

So far, the state has recorded 1,03,510 positive cases and 1667 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month has reported 7122 new positive cases and 39 fatality.

The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 2838 and 16 respectively.

According to official reports, out of the 329 fresh cases, 320 cases (162 male & 158 female) are from among the general population and 9 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (10), JNIMS (35) and other testing centres (284) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (65), Imphal West (146), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (10), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (10), Ukhrul (5), Tamenglong (8), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (2), Noney (1), Senapati (7), Chandel (8) and Churachandpur (18) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,32,910 (general population - 1,27,952 and CAPF personnel - 4,958).Number of recovered cases is 1,26,893 (general population - 1,22,142 and CAPF personnel - 4,751) and number of active cases is 3976 (general population - 3776 and CAPF personnel - 200).The recovery rate is 95.47 per cent.

A total of 246 D-type and 96 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours while 11,187 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 14,20,181 out of which 10,44,845 had received second doses and 26,830 had taken precautionary doses.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (47,203), Imphal East (29,479), Thoubal (9838), Churachandpur (10,828), Kangpokpi (3028), Tamenglong (3351), Bishnupur (9521), Senapati (2381), Ukhrul (3130), Kakching (6679), Chandel (2607), Noney (1119), Tengnoupal (1158), Jiribam (1107), Kamjong (1016) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (684), Imphal East (490), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (197), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (48), Kakching (117), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 42,833 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 29,323 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,91,692 tests per million population against the national average of 5,18,899 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2002 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 16.43 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.71 per cent.
