RK Anand explains stand on joining NEIDP

Ex-MLA RK Anand has conveyed that he joined NEIDP and decided to contest the coming Lok Sabha election due to strong belief in regionalism.
Speaking at a public meeting held at Kwakeithel today, RK Anand narrated that he rose as a human rights defender and other before entering politics by joining regional party DRPP.
He then mentioned that DRPP and FPM merged with MPP with the aim of bringing a positive change to Manipur by building a strong regional force.
He continued that he later joined Congress to see if he can bring much needed change by joining a National party and claimed that he did not do so out of personal interest.
Explaining his decision to join NEIDP, RK Anand claimed that National parties like BJP and Congress will never be able to fulfil the wishes of the indigenous people of the State and added that it is high time for a political revolution in Manipur as well as the entire North East.
He also expressed firm belief in NEIDP ideology that Manipur as well as the entire North East need to become self-reliant and less dependent on the Central Government and added that the time is right to face the political discrimination meted out by National parties against the North East region.
RK Anand claimed that when he was still in the Congress party, he was unable to do or say anything on various issues due to so called 'National policy' of the party.
He further alleged that the Congress ticket for the coming election was also issued in an unfair manner and added that he did take the nomination form of the Congress party but did not submit it.
Pointing out various past issues of the State as well as lack of proper response from the National parties, he mentioned that NEIDP is completely different compared to these National parties and announced that if he is elected as an MP, he will not let the people's trust go in vain.
On the other hand, NEIDP Manipur vice president O Malesh said that in the past Assembly election, he and RK Anand contested on opposite sides but from now, they will work together for the betterment of the party.
He continued that it is high time for the people to avoid getting swayed by the false promises of Congress and the BJP and added that NEIDP was established with the welfare of the people of the State and the North East region in mind.
NEIDP's mission is to provide a job for every household.
A lot of people from Congress and BJP are waiting to switch side to NEIDP, he claimed.
NEIDP State president Dr Ng Bijoy also spoke at the event which was attended by party leaders and workers.
