First Naga Journalists' conclave held

In a historic first, the Ukhrul District Working Journalists' Association (UDWJA) organised a Naga Journalists' conclave from March 17-19, 2025 at Magen Hills, Viewland, Ukhrul.
The three-day conclave held under the motto "Connecting Voices," was attended by delegates from five Naga districts of Chandel, Noney, Tamenglong, Senapati and Ukhrul.
The event was attended by Vareiyo Shatsang, general secretary of United Naga Council (UNC), as proponent while Witoubou Newmai, chief editor of Newmai News Network (NNN), and Sothing Hunphun Awungshi, senior journalist as the panelists.
At the discussion session, Witoubou Newmai spoke on the topic "Bridging the gap," while Sothing Shimray.
spoke on "The Way Forward", followed by deliberations on different issues and challenges related to the working conditions of the journalists in the Naga hill district.
The conclave resolved to revive the "Syndication of Naga Journalists", which was established by veteran Naga journalists in 2023 and rechristen the organisation as "Naga Journalists Union Manipur" (NJUM) under the motto "Connecting Voices" .
The meeting also resolved to constitute an interim body in which Pr Tennoson was elected as the president, Vangamla Salle KS as general secretary.
