Tengnoupal rally, TIPS oppose border fencing

Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal (KIT) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Tengnoupal organised a mass rally from 10am till noon on Thursday.
The rally, taken out in protest against the government's move to scrap the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and construction of border.fencing between India and Myanmar, was taken out from Tengnoupal St Peter's Church to the Tengnoupal DC office.
According to our correspondent, the protestors held a public meeting at Tengnoupal community hall, which was addressed by KIT vice president Hollal Zou, HTC president Kaikholal Haokip and KSO Tengnoupal district president Thangboi Lhungdim.
In all, around 500 people including leaders of Tengnoupal district-based CSOs, village chiefs, tribe leaders, Church leaders and students, participated in the rally.
Meanwhile, Transborder Indigenous People (TIP) asserted on Thursday that it will oppose the scrapping of Free Movement Regime (FMR) and border fencing in Naga areas.
TIP is an organisation of the cross border Naga community.
It comprises Nagas living in Myanmar and India.
According to TIP, the aim of the organisation is to strengthen the family ties of Naga people who straddle the international boundary.
On the other-hand, TIP in its meeting in Ukhrul on Thursday deliberated "whatever is democratically possible to pressure both the governments of India and Myanmar not to further divide the Naga family.
Seth Shatsang and Leiyolan Vashum are co-ordinators of TIP.
