AR commemorates World Health Day across State with outreach programmes

The Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) observed World Health Day today with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at improving public health, nutrition awareness and community wellness across different districts of Manipur.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), a lecture on Health & Hygiene was conducted at Greenland Veterinary Hospital in Ukhrul district.
The session educated locals on the prevention of waterborne diseases like Typhoid, Cholera and Hepatitis, and vector-borne diseases such as Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya.
With 44 participants including 7 women and 14 children, the awareness drive emphasised personal hygiene, clean surroundings, and sanitation as key defences against seasonal illnesses.
Simultaneously, a medical camp was organised at Chahkap village, Chandel District, offering medical checkups, treatment, and distribution of essential medicines to underserved populations.
A total of 84 patients (25 men, 44 women, and 5 children) benefitted from the camp.
Health education focused on common monsoon ailments and preventive care, reiterating Assam Rifles' role in bridging healthcare gaps in remote areas.
In Moreh, Assam Rifles hosted a vibrant Millets Mela under the theme "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures".
The event highlighted the nutritional value of millets and their role in boosting immunity.
Locals were introduced to a range of millet-based recipes and live demonstrations, encouraging healthier dietary habits.
The mela witnessed participation from 50 residents and served as a meaningfol convergence of traditional food wisdom and modem wellness goals.
Together, these events underscored Assam Rifles' steadfast commitment to safeguarding not just the borders but also the health and wellbeing of foe people of Manipur, said the IGAR (South) .
